PGS recognizes that the catastrophic health and environmental consequences of a nuclear war are at the extreme end of a continuum of armed violence that undermines health and security. IPPNW and PGS are committed to studying the root causes of armed conflict from a public health perspective and to educating others.

Focusing on this goal, PGS holds an educational conference every four months, to educate the public on important issues relating to nuclear weapons. For more information on our events please click here.

PGS is concerned with the development of medical students, often providing funding for students to attend its conferences. In addition, PGS usually has a few student representatives on the board of directors who receive support from the organization in their campus initiatives. For more information on past and current students and their projects, as well as how to get involved click here.

PGS continuously works with similar organizations such as Mayors for Peace and the Coalition for Gun Control as well as with peace programs at universities across the country.  Links to PGS and IPPNW campaigns can be found below.
